We all need to have a positive mindset and one of the best ways to develop that is to have positive people around us. Choose your company wisely because these people will boost your energy, esteem, and happiness! Hang out with people who think like you. And those who think like you! When challenging times come, these are the same people who will help you see the brighter side of things.
Vision your future self.
We all have an ideal self. Always have that vision in your head all the time. This vision is essential in changing your mindset to achieve your goals. Set your goals quite clearly so when you get confused or derailed, you have something to look back to as a reminder. Remember that goals are not the same as dreams because goals are SMART. Unlike dreams, goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound. Unlike dreams, we can control our goals.
Write your goals down every day.
There are short-term goals and long-term goals. It is important to be reminded of these goals daily. Your short-term goals must feed into your long-term goals. And one way to constantly check this is by writing it down. This will help you re-align your brain and make sure that you are set in achieving your tasks to achieve your goals or your desired outcomes. Besides, it is also fun to cross off your completed tasks and it does give you a sense of fulfillment that you are making progress.
Learn from other people’s mistakes.
Jack Ma, Alibaba’s Founder, Chinese business magnate, and the richest man in China once said: “Learn from other people’s mistakes.” Successful people have overcome the same challenges that you will most likely face to actualize your goals. If you can, connect with these people. There are things you can learn from them – especially from their mistakes. You learn vicariously through them. Reading their biographies is also a great way to change your mindset into a more positive one.
Gradually improve your mental toughness.
Be the master of your emotions. Developing grit in your mindset is a good way to win over those hurdles. How do you do it? It is developed in the willingness to sacrifice in order to complete a task. Be committed and willing to go the extra mile in achieving your goals.
