In the last two Little Black Dress Series blog post, I talked about Why Every Woman Should Have a Black Dress and the versatility of having a simple little black dress as part of your wardrobe. I also mentioned that I’m now investing more in black outfits. Because they are woman lifesavers! Today in the little black dress series, I’m showing you a dress that is affordable & stylish at the same time. Most important, it will transform your look without breaking your budget.
The little black dress makes you look slim.
Going through my closet to choose a black dress for the blog pictures, I realized that I have more black dresses than I thought. I started to put all of them together and remembered the moments I wore all these black dresses.
Coincidentally, most of the time, when I wore black, I was a bit overweight. So I’m quite confident that black outfits do make you look slim. To confirm this, I barely kept pictures from that time, I was wearing black clothes. I wonder why?
I think I know why. No, no, no, I don’t think I’m pretty much sure why I don’t have pictures of those extra pounds occasions. And at this point, I have the sense that you know the reason too.
Affordable & Stylish
So, as an entry in The Little Black Dress Series, this dress is the one I wore to a Christmas party in December 2016. At that time, I was probably weighing around 135 lbs; and had difficulty in finding a dress to fit me perfectly. So, I started to shop on Amazon and ordered a good number of dresses. I was concerned at first because of the low price, and I wondered if the dresses would have poor quality. These dresses were all black, by the way.
To my surprise, the quality wasn’t that bad, and they were pretty. The dress size 12 fitted me nicely. A reminder; most of the time, these dress sizes ran small. This black dress was simple, elegant, and flattering, and it made me look thin and tall. Of course, I also had help from my 5-inch heels!
Make changes and get it even better
Not satisfied with the length, I decided to make changes to the dress. My creativity took control, and I shortened it to 12 inches, and I changed the style a bit. I got very excited about making the adjustments that, by the end, I had a different dress! I turned it into a high low dress.
To my surprise, my affordable little black dress got me a lot of compliments that night!
No one could believe I just had a baby, and no one could guess that stylish black dress was under $50.00 from Amazon.
How to stylish your affordable little black dress to look luxurious?
So, as you can see, I paired this dress with gold accessories. I thought the combination of black and gold went very well. It gave the simple little black dress, a new and expensive look!
From this experience, I would like to say that you do not need to spend too much money to find a lovely dress. Or to look elegant and stylish to a party. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to get an A-grade look. The only thing you need to do is to be creative with the accessories you already have in your closet and use your sewing skills.
During this coronavirus quarantine period, you can take time to sort and organize your accessories. You can also experiment with many ways you can transform a simple black dress into a stylish, unique outfit that would show your gorgeousness to the world!
Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot to look stunning!
