Why I Haven’t Worn the Favorite Flattering Maxi Dress I Own?

I have this dress for over two years, and it’s easily one of my favorite maxi dresses that I have in my closet. The print color is unexpected; the fabric is supremely flattering. It’s basically perfect… So, why in two years this is the only, second time I’m wearing my favorite flattering maxi dress that I love so much?

When I got this dress was at the beginning of fall, 2016. Lorenzo was three months old, just a baby. I remember the first time I saw this dress on the Anthropologie online store. It was summer, I was close to seven months of being pregnant.

I fell in love with it. But it was too expensive at that time. If I remember right, the price tag was around $400. Also, I thought to myself, if I buy this dress, how long before, I can wear this? I was about to start in a breastfeeding life mode, and this dress wasn’t in favor of that.

However, on Black Friday. I saw that it went on sale, the price came down a lot, looked like a good deal. Oh, yes, I didn’t think twice. I got the dress.

Forgotten Again

Like I suspected, my favorite flattering maxi dress got hanged on my closet and forgotten. With a baby home, we don’t go out so often, and when that happens, you always look for the bottom-up front clothes to make it easy for nursing.

I remember that I wore it in Feb 2017 for a birthday party. I loved the way it looks. But it was too long. Also, the fluttering skirt concerned me. For instance, when walking and going down on stairs holding a baby in my arms couldn’t be safe. It could be easy to trip on it. After that, the pretty dress went back to the forgotten hanger again.

Similar to this dress, I have many other clothes hanging on my closet that still with the price tags. In general, that’s what happens after having kids. Always finding ways to adapt your lifestyle around the little ones.

When it’s time to go out, by the time you have the kids ready. You started to look for clothes that are easy to dress up and comfortable. Anything that makes it easy to run around to catch them up. Most of the time, we ended up wearing a uniform outfit. Denim, and bottom-up shirt.
