I love that we have a whole day set aside to honor and celebrate the women who raised us and I am here today to do just that by writing an open letter to moms! Growing up, I was used to having two moms. To cut the long story short, my aunt, who is my mom’s eldest sister, came to live with us when I was still 2 years old. She helped my parents raise my siblings and I, hence, we were extra blessed because we had the love of a mother times two! So here it goes:

Grateful

Dear Moms all over the world,

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It is cliche but I could not think of a better way to start this letter. You are an amazing mother who dedicates her life to her children. You are selfless, yet strong and beautiful. Mother’s Day holds a special place in my heart because of my children and I love receiving their handmade gifts or letters when they were younger. Now that they are older, they can already afford to buy me flowers! These moments remind me that motherhood is a gift, and taking care of my children is my favorite job of all. This also made me appreciate my mother/s more.

You are more than enough

Please do not forget that you are more than enough. Do not feel insecure and never think that what you are doing for the family goes unnoticed. I know that it pains you every time you leave for work (pre- Covid time) or whenever you need to make the kids stay quiet just so you attend that Zoom meeting. Remember that with constant reminders, the kids will eventually understand. It is important to never let yourself be filled with feelings of discontent. Take a few minutes a day to do what you love. Refuel yourself because you cannot give what you do not have.

An Open Letter to Moms on Mother's Day

The Little Things

Motherhood can be difficult. It isn’t instantly rewarding at all. It can feel overwhelming. Especially when you’re changing diapers or listening to whining constantly, it gets to the point where you just want to drop everything and cry. However, let this be an encouragement because one day, you’ll be sitting around a table on Mother’s Day and you’ll realize that these young ones are thankful for you. That they do notice every little thing you do for them. Like preparing their cereals, brushing their hair, and playing basketball with them. As they say, every little thing you do is magic.

Loved and Celebrated

I hope that you feel so loved and celebrated not only on Mother’s Day but throughout the whole year. No matter what phase you are in today, know that you are more than enough. Have extra fun and celebrate motherhood – for all its worth. Let your hair down and put your feet up. Have some wine, too! Advance Happy Mother’s Day!

Advance Happy Mother’s Day, too, of course, to our CEO, Vida!!
